Warhammer 40K “The Marshmellow” Tournament

September 30 @ 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

Warhammer 40K “The Marshmellow” Tournament

This Warhammer 40K Miniatures Tournament is named the Marshmallow tournament since it is going to be mostly about soft scores. Expect it to be a fun filled day blending narrative and matched play missions.

Here is a general outline of the event. If you have questions, concerns, or suggestions hit me up at thomas.marturano@gmail.com.

Costs. $20 due at the time of signup. To reserve your spot please pay at the time of registration at the Den. This is to keep everything simple!

There will be four planned prizes (more depending on turnout). Best Overall, Best Painted, Best Sports, and the Wooden Spoon. Scoring will be done on the following matrix: Battle Points 25%, Painting 30%, Sportsmanship/Theme 25%, Lore Quiz 20%.

Round Times: 10am – Noon Round 1
1PM – 3PM Round 2
3PM – 5PM Round 3
5-530PM cleanup
5-545PM Prizes

Army Composition. Armies must be battleforged and consist of equal to or less than 1500 points. There will be a composition component to this tournament. Right now it simply consists of a sniff test. I could spend a lot of time attempting to come up with a comprehensive guide but I don’t think the community requires it. Instead bring a list that feels like it belongs in the 40K universe. (You’ll notice there is no Best General for prize support.) Lists will have to be submitted to me by Sept 16th at the latest. If you have questions about your list send it to me early!

Missions. The tournament will consist of three games. The first game is going to be a narrative mission I will be custom designing for the event. The second mission will be one of the matched play missions straight from the book. The third mission will be one from the ITC mission pack.

Tournament Amendments to the Rules. We will be using the ITC method of determining who goes first. (Both players roll off with the player who finished deployment first getting +1 to the roll. If the player who wins the roll off chooses himself or their opponent can attempt to seize on the roll of a six.)

Lore Quiz. Anyone who is unfamiliar with this should spend some time reading the background of the game. I will be picking questions mostly from the newer fluff but there will be a handful of gems for the old timers! The lore of the hobby is often overlooked at events so I wanted to bring this back!
